Four men are hanged in Iran for gang-raping woman in front of her husband who they tied up and forced to watch

In Iran, four men were hanged for gang-rapping a woman in front of her husband, who was bound up and forced to watch the gruesome scene. The husband and wife were climbing a mountain in Iran's Khorasan Razavi province when they were attacked.

The perpetrators who are Ruhollah Javidi Rad, Mohammad Sayadi Baghansgani, Mohammad Hosseini, and Mohammad Watan were arrested after a comprehensive police investigation. They were arrested and charged with

abduction and rape of a woman, as well as threats and violence against a man. Before raping his wife in front of him, the defendants tied the man's hands and feet together.

The case was sent to the Supreme Court of Khorasan Razavi, where the four men were sentenced to death by hanging in Mashhad Central Prison. In Iran, men are rarely tried for sexual offences in Iran, as the laws are generally intended to shield rape victims, who frequently face counter charges of adultery, indecent exposure, or improper behaviour after reporting a sexual assault.

The statement of four male witnesses, or a mixture of male and female witnesses, is typically enough to convict accused rapists. In Iran, more than 250 executions were carried out in the country in 2019.
