India has seen a significant increase in the number of new cases of Coronavirus after having reported 77,226 infections in the last 24 hours, the world's highest single-day caseload. India currently has a record of over
3.38 million cases with 46 percent of infections reported in August alone since the onset of the pandemic.The country again announced 1,057 new deaths, its Ministry of Health said earlier today, bringing the total to 61,529. The numbers suggest that since 7 August India has recorded over 60,000 new regular infections which is the world's highest single-day caseload for three weeks every day.
India is now the third country with the highest COVID-19 caseload in the whole world after the USA and Brazil.
