Dangote Obajana plant Line started production in August 2014The combine capacity of lines is 13.25MTPA
Its
Industrial transformation consists of line 1, 2, 3 and 4 (which is the
newly addition to the Obajana plant and the transformation continues).
Limestone
is the main raw material for the production of cements in Dangote PLC.
Other materials are Clay and Laterite soil. Laterite which is the top
layer before getting to clay and then limestone. Gypsum is the other raw
material which is not located at this Obajana location. The total
limestone reserve is 675MT and proven reserve is 225MT.
SIMPLE ARITHMETIC OF CEMENT MAKING
Limestone,
clay and laterite are grinded together to give raw meal and burnt to
give clinker and the clinker is added to gypsum and limestone to give
the end product known as the Dangote Cement.
After
drilling the next step is stemming the blast area and blasting. Raw
materials are excavated by the excavator after blasting. The raw
materials are transported to the mixed storage for Pre-blending and
reclaiming. The next stage is the Raw Milling where it is grinded into
fine powder and next it is transferred to the silo for uniformity and
good quality control. This is called Homogenization. The next stage is
the pyro-processing system which is the most expensive part of cement
making. In this stage the clinker burning is used and it consist of
Pre-heating, drying, calcining, sintering and cooling
The
pyro-processing stage is the heart of cement making. The next stage is
the cement milling whereby clinker and additives are grinded into fines
powder to become cement in vertical roller mill.
The next stage is the transportation of the mixed cement to the Roto Packer for packaging.
